Serial connection Controllino with Raspberry Pi

Hi,

I intend to connect me Controllino Maxi Automation with a Raspberry Pi 4 Computer using Serial2 or Serial3.

Is it possible to connect the TX and RX Pins directly without demageing my Raspi, or do I have to use a logic level shifter (3,3V / 5V) in between?

The Controllino is sourced with 24VDC and the Raspi with 5VDC.

I´m not sure which max levels are allowed at the TX and RX Pins.

Any advice would be very much appriciated!

Hello Gerd,

It is always better to use proper Level shifters. They are available on very small boards … can even be implemented in a cable.
