Automation Direct C-more EA3-T4CL implementation

Hello everyone,

Has anyone used and successfully implemented MODBUS TCP/IP with an Automation Direct C-more EA3-T4CL HMI and a Controllino MAXI? (see link==> https://www.automationdirect.com/adc/shopping/catalog/hmi_(human_machine_interface)/c-more_micro_panels/operator_panels_(all_sizes)/ea3-t4cl)

I have not used this HMI yet and I have NOT implemented it with the MAXI, but that is what I am wanting to do unless someone can give me a reason I should NOT or some pointers as to what to expect in this process.

Is this essentially the same process that is shown in the MODBUS TCP/IP Tutorial example with the Beijer HMI? I realize it will not be “identical” since the C-more software and the “iX” software are not identical but is this essentially the same process?

Will I need to implement/use the “RS485” library as well since I want to use the Ethernet port on the controller? I noticed it was NOT used in the tutorial example but he “Ethernet” and the “Mudbus” headers were. Also I suppose the MAXI will be the MODBUS Master and the HMI the slave?

I haven’t purchased the unit yet and I am trying to understand everything before I dive in and potentially waste time and money if this doesn’t look like a straightforward type of solution.

I am a “noob” with respect to this particular solution so any advise and pointers is greatly appreciated.

OK, I guess there are NO takers for the EA3-T4CL!

Does anyone have experience using a Controllino Maxi Automation with a Maple Systems HMI like the HMI5070B ???

Would I use a MODBUS TCP/IP protocol? Is the HMI the master or the PLC? Maple recommends the Controllino as the Master from their documents.

If that is the case then ==> 1.) Do I need to ASSIGN a static IP address tot he Controllino in code? 2.) Will the Controllino need a MAC address assigned?? 3.) If I do NOT intend to use a router (unless someone can tell me why I should) will I need a cross-over cable rather than a regular straight “patch” cable??

New to the HMI think with Controllino’s so I am asking for some good advice here.
